Pakistan Plans to Sign Dual Citizenship Agreement with Turkey

The Government of Pakistan is planning on signing an agreement with Turkey to grant dual citizenship for the civilians of both countries.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, the idea was brought up during a meeting between Pakistan Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah and Turkish Ambassador to Islamabad Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul.

As per the statement, the Turkish ambassador proposed both countries sign an agreement to allow dual citizenship for their citizens.

“The draft is under consideration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is on board with us, we hope to reach a mutual conclusion soon. “, Ijaz Ahmad Shah replied.

Turkish ambassador encouraged the establishment of mutual training programs and appreciated the upgrading of law enforcement equipment with Turkey.

It was also informed that the Turkish Embassy under construction in the southern city of Karachi will be Turkey’s largest Consulate in the world.
