The Pandemic is a Golden Opportunity to Pursue a ‘Make in Pakistan’ Policy

Adviser to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said that the novel coronavirus has changed the world as we know it. “The pandemic is a golden opportunity to follow a strategy of making in Pakistan,” he added.

Many businesses are on the verge of closure, many laborers are under the threat of losing their jobs. Under the circumstances the need of the hour is a policy whereby we do not import, but make products in Pakistan,” Mr. Abdul Razak tweeted.

He gave somehow a reality check of the company’s current situation. He noted that many of them are on the verge of closure, and staff are threatened with loss of jobs. The advisor further told that the Ministry of Commerce is actively seeking changes in the tariff structure for the upcoming budget, enabling the government to encourage local development, shifting towards local manufacturing, following our ‘Make in Pakistan Policy.
