Pakistan’s IT Export Remittances Surge to $887 Million

Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui emphasized the management of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to create a complete marketing plan to increase the growth of Pakistan’s IT sector. For this purpose, a video conference was held that was chaired by the Federal Secretary IT and attended by officials of the Ministry of IT and PSEB.

He also highlighted that IT companies need to be provided with opportunities for international business. Previously, PSEB Managing Director, Syed Ali Abbas Hasani informed that during the first eight months of the current fascial year, Pakistan’s IT & IT-enabled Services (ITeS) export remittances, including telecommunication, computer and information services, have inflated to $887.470 million, showing a surge rate of 26.24% as compared to $702.990 million during the same period last year.

The number of IT and ITeS companies has also increased by 26.35%.

Abbas Hasani said, “The Korean Exim Bank has principally agreed to provide funding for the establishment of a state of the IT Park in Karachi and that training in emerging technologies of 2,000 fresh IT graduates and professionals working in the industry will start from May 2020.”

Over the past eight months, PSEB has entertained 70 IT firms to participate in various international events in the following countries:

  • Canada
  • China
  • Dubai
  • Norway
  • Saudi Arabia
  • USA

Pakistan has been serving the world’s largest companies with exceptional IT services.

The Secretary IT Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui said, “Efforts need to be made to enhance the perception of Pakistan’s IT Industry in the global arena and to ensure sustainable growth of Pakistan’s IT industry in the long term.”
