Crack Down On Offensive Content & Immorality On Social Media

A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has decided to crack down on those who share insulting material on social media and defame others.

The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Rana Sanaullah and was attended by Federal Secretary Home, IG Punjab, DG FIA and Acting Chairman NADRA Khalid Latif among others.

The meeting reviewed issues of harassment of citizens on social media and uploading of immoral videos. The meeting also reviewed issues related to blackmail and misconduct of citizens. The meeting decided to crack down on those who promote immoral content on social media, harass citizens and tarnish their image through immorality.

The meeting also decided to make effective laws on cyber crime, especially harassment and insulting content uploading and advertising. It was decided to form a working group on the issue of harassment and immorality in PECA 2016 to make necessary amendments. The working group will formulate recommendations after consultation and consensus with all stakeholders.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah while instructing to take strict and immediate action against those involved in cyber crime said that tarnishing the image of citizens through insulting material and immorality is not acceptable.

He said that the spread of immoral and insulting material on social media could lead to chaos and disorder in the society, adding that strict action would be taken against those involved in such crimes and action would be taken without any discrimination.

The Home Minister further said that the concerned agencies should adopt zero tolerance policy against the violators of moral values ​​in the society, citizens should send their complaints to the FIA ​​contact numbers and the complaints would be processed without any delay.
