Speaking at an event in Karachi Press Club, Chinese Consul-General Mr. Li Bigian said that Pakistan should take advantage of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as Pakistani exports to China can be increased by $6 billion under FTA Phase-II.
After the successful completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project (CPEC), various other projects are lined up under CPEC Phase-II.
The Chinese Representative remarked that Pakistan and China have been in a cordial relation for so long and have supported each other in the areas of common interests.
As per the second phase of FTA, Pakistani manufacturers and traders were allowed to export more than 300 new tariff lines with free duties to the massive Chinese market. The legal formalities and procedures have already been completed under the Free Trade Agreement and its implantation will be started very soon.
Envoy expressed his grief on the death of 2000 Chinese due to coronavirus and he said that besides the destruction created by coronavirus the country is striving very hard to protect its people and economy.
The issue of overseas Pakistani students in china also bought under discussion. Mr. Li Bijian, the Consul General of China in Karachi told reporters, “If such a large number of students come back, this will cost huge health operations for the Pakistani government. If the isolation facilities are not ready, this can cause another outbreak of this virus in Pakistan.”
