Islamabad: The federal government has filed a request to increase the basic electricity tariff by 7 rupees 91 paise in Nepra, after the hearing today, Nepra will send its decision to the federal government for notification.
The federal government has submitted an application for uniform tariff to Nepra, in the application filed by the federal government, it is proposed to increase the basic electricity tariff for all DISCOs including K Electric.
The government is planning to increase the basic tariff of electricity in a phased manner. In this regard, it is proposed to increase the price of electricity by 3 rupees 50 paisa per unit from July. From August, electricity will be increased by 3 rupees 50 paise per unit, while from October, it is proposed to increase the basic tariff of electricity by 91 paise per unit.
On the other hand, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb denied the news of increase in electricity prices.
