NEPRA HIKES POWER TARIFF BY RS3.99 PER UNIT

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Monday climbed power duty by Rs3.99 per unit in the country.

As per a notice gave by the NEPRA, the increment was made under fuel adjustment charges (FAC) for the long stretch of April, following interest from CPPAG for a climb of Rs4.05 per unit.

It said that the NEPRA held a formal review on the FCA on 31 May 2022.

The FCA for March was charged at Rs2.86 per unit and the fuel adjustment charges for April are higher than the earlier month by Rs1.13 per unit.

“The increment of Rs3.99 might be appropriate for June bills,” it said and added that it will be charged from all customers of DISCOS with the exception of life-line shoppers while it will likewise not be pertinent for K-Electric clients.

It is relevant to specify here that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has previously fixed the power tax at Rs24.82 per unit for the monetary year of 2022-23 after a gigantic climb of Rs7.91 per unit.

With the new climb, the one-unit cost of charging has gone up from Rs16.91 to Rs24.82. The devaluation of the rupee and rising oil costs in the international market have been refered to as purposes behind the electricity levy climb.

As per the assertion, Nepra has fixed the national normal tax for the monetary year 2022-23 at Rs24.82 per unit, which is Rs7.91 per unit higher than the past typical duty.

The assertion further said that the authority decides the new levy in light of the circulation and transmission misfortunes and as far as income of various dissemination organizations. The NEPRA in its public statement said that the assessed cost of limit cost including NTDC and HVDC is Rs1366 billion.
