The Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMAEA) called for the implementation of an innovation strategy to gain access to new foreign markets in a bid to improve exports to get the country’s much-needed forex.
In a recent video conference of PCMAEA, the participants discussed the overall situation of the carpet industry and the difficulties faced by the skilled workers due to the country lockdown. Aslam Tahir said the government would sign new balanced trade agreements with different countries and speed up the refund process for exporters to offer minimum investment shortages.
He requested that the government give exporters and local industry an incentive package so that they can compete with their rivals on an international basis.
He said that the government should nominate a focal person to better communicate with other departments and the community. He said the government would also help exporters finding new foreign markets so they can account for coronavirus-related losses.
