PIA Cancels Flights to Canada Due to COVID-19

Pakistan International Airlines on Friday declared that all passenger flights to Canada will be canceled. PIA spokesperson said that due to the ban on flights from Pakistan to Canada, all flights to Canada have been canceled.

As part of tougher steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the Canadian government declared on Thursday that it would immediately ban passenger flights from India and Pakistan for the next 30 days.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau decided after the opposition chastised the government for failing to react to the third wave of the pandemic. The ban goes into effect at 11:30 p.m. on Friday (PST).

Meanwhile, during the third wave, Pakistan has seen an unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases, which have been affecting people more dangerously than the previous two waves.

After meeting with Minister for Planning and Development Reforms Asad Umar and Dr. Faisal Sultan, his special assistant on health, Prime Minister Imran Khan convened a meeting of the National Coordination Committee on Coronavirus on Friday (today).
