Pakistan’s IT and ITeS Export Remittances increased to 24.71%

In comparison with the last year, Pakistan’s information technology (IT) and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) export remittances have shown an inflation rate of 24.71% during the first half of the current fascial year.

Sources informed Pak Revenue, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication was making efforts to promote IT exports and encourage IT companies.

As per the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), almost 2,163 IT and ITeS companies have been registered under PSEB exhibiting an increase of 15.5% as compared to 2019. Furthermore, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $760.582 million during the first seven months of 2019-2020. In other words, there has been a 22.73% increase in the import of mobile phones every month.

The exceptional growth in mobile phone imports is being related to the execution of device identification registration and blocking system (DIRBS). Telecommunication authorities informed that the PTA has blocked more than 50 million invalid devices.

 PSEB took several initiatives to promote IT exports in the country by organizing the participation of Pakistan’s IT companies at China Hi-Tech Fair 2019 in Shenzhen, Arabnet 2019 in Riyadh, and ITCN Asia 2019 held in Karachi.
