French Businessmen and Investors Invited to Invest in Special Economic Zones in Pakistan

MEDEF, France’s largest business group, Embassy of Pakistan in Paris and Embassy of France in Islamabad, arranged a webinar on investment opportunities in Pakistan.

In his key note address, Minister of State and Chairman of the Investment Board of Pakistan Atif R. Bokhari invited French entrepreneurs, investors and businessmen to invest in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones, in particular in the food processing, information technology, housing and construction, tourism and agriculture sectors and to benefit from Pakistan’s liberal investment regime and stable political and security situation of the country.

A news release received here Tuesday said that he also urged French investors and businesspeople to consider investing in the Islamabad-based information technology park.

A large number of Pakistani and French companies have participated in the case. Mr. Moin ul Haque, Pakistan’s Ambassador to France, and Nora SUSBIELLE, French Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Deputy Head of the Asia-Pacific Department attended from France.

Atif R. Bokhari, Chairman of Pakistan ‘s Investment Board and Mr. Marc BARETY, French Ambassador to Pakistan participated in the event from Pakistan.

Thierry Pflimlin, chairman, Pakistan France Business Council and chairman of Total Global Services, said in his remarks that the French and Pakistani companies will explore the emerging market and investment opportunities as both countries restart their economies following COVID-19 lockdowns.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to France Moin ul Haque briefed the participants on Pakistan’s economic problems due to COVID-19 and the Government’s relief stimulus package to support business and vulnerable segment of society. He said, “We noted that while COVID-19 has stressed the world’s economies, opportunities have also been developed.”

Marc Barety, Ambassador of France spoke about the huge potential that exists between Pakistan and France in further strengthening their economic and investment relations.

He said cooperation between small and medium enterprises of the two countries is among the priority areas for enhancing business relations.
